Take dad to the McKinley Museum

On Saturday, June 15th, the McKinley Museum is offering Free Admission for Fathers, to enjoy the day with their family learning about President McKinley and life here in Stark County!

On Sunday, enjoy at delicious meal at the Father’s Day Grillin’ Grand Buffet at the Fieldcrest Estate! This brunch will include a fun fun and yummy twist which includes hamburgers, hot dogs, and bbq chicken from 10:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Check out the Marlboro Volunteers Armor Fest with dad in Alliance from 9:00 – 4:00 p.m.! This military vehicle and swap meet is sure to bring back some memories!

If your dad is an outdoorsy-kind-of-guy take a trip to Canal Fulton Canoe Livery or on a Canal Boat Ride! Spend some time outside together on a beautiful June day – the weather forecast is looking good! Enjoy your Father’s Day!

Camping Fun in Stark County

Tis the season for outdoor activities! Camping is a fond childhood memory of mine and I’m sure the same goes for you and your family as well!

Leave your cell phone at home and make memories together in the woods. Whether you enjoy the camp food (s’mores, anyone?), the hiking, biking, and fishing, or you just enjoy a good book in the woods – there are plenty of places in Stark County that will keep you busy!

 

Stark County Camp Grounds

Baylor Beach

Baylor Beach Park is located just two miles north of Wilmont and has four picnic shelters, sand volleyball, a playground and a two acre water park for paddle-boats!

Bear Creek Resort Ranch KOA in East Sparta has 75 camping sites, with fishing, hiking, hayrides, and a pool! Don’t forget to bring the graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows!

Canal Fulton Canoe Livery is found right along the canal which offers great canoeing and kayaking opportunities and primitive camping! Bring your camera – you are sure to see some beautiful wildlife and scenery along the way!

 

Camp Ground in Stark County

Clay’s Park

Clay’s Park Resort, located in North Lawrence, and has amenities such as water slides, zip lines, mini-golf, a heated pool, hot tub, and is a pet friendly site as well! Check out their website for events as well!

Cutty’s Sunset Camping Resort, located in Marlboro Township, offers a full menu restaurant and snack bar, as well as a laundromat for longer stays! Reminder to bring your sunscreen and bug spray on every camping trip!

Hidden Valley Lake Campground, in Paris, is a family campground that offers swimming, fishing, basketball, and more! Take a good book or your iPad – they have free wi-fi!

Taggarts has two locations, one in Canton and one in Magnolia. You can satisfy your taste buds no matter what direction you’re going!

Milk & Honey Candy & Soda Shoppe is located in Canton and is another long-time ice cream parlor! They have FOUR types of banana splits and jumbo root beer floats!

Heggy’s Nut Shop has more to offer than they’re name suggests! They have delicious milkshakes and malts! Heggy’s also has a variety of sundaes including pineapple and marshmallow!

Almost Heaven Homemade Ice Cream has quite arguably the best butter pecan ice cream you will ever taste! Yum! Their owners even attended a culinary class at the University of Florida to create the best of the best in ice cream creations! If you’re looking for something a little fruity – try their orange pineapple!

New Baltimore Homemade Ice Cream has two locations! One is a convenient stop on Route 44 and Pontius Ave. in New Baltimore, the other is at Rolling Greens Miniature Golf in Uniontown! They post their weekly flavors on their FaceBook page – yum!

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has multiple locations in the area! Check out their stores in Alliance, North Canton, and Massillon! Get ready to make a tough decision, as they have over 50 flavors of homemade ice cream! You can also get quarts or pints to take home too, and they even have apple dumplings on occasion!

Twistee Treat Ice Cream is one you cannot miss! Located in Massillon, this giant pink and white ice cream cone is serving up tasty treats! They have something for everyone – from cones and sundaes, to malts and shakes, and slushies and smoothies!

Canal Fulton Ice Cream

Cherry Street Creamery in Canal Fulton

Cherry Street Creamery in Canal Fulton is in the perfect location to bike to using the Ohio & Erie Canal! After you’ve biked off all of those calories, you won’t feel guilty grabbing some yummy treats at this road-side stand! It’s the perfect summer combination!

Oser’s Dairy & Deli is just across the street in Canal Fulton as well! Be sure to get their chocolate & peanut butter ice cream! It is definitely to die for!

Smith’s Waco Market located on Waynesburg Drive, just south of Route 30 is certainly delicious – and you can tell by the line that this place is always busy! No worries though – it is worth the small wait. Not to mention, their prices are fantastic for the scoops you will get!

Fluppy’s Drive-In located in Waynesburg is a summertime favorite as well! This place is perfect to swing by after a baseball game with the kids! They have an amazing brownie sundae and lots of picnic tables in the shade!

Kremeland is just a little bit to the southwest in Navarre. This retro 1950′s diner sits right on Main Street and is hard to miss! They have just about every ice-cream concoction you could imagine, as long as a large food menu!
