On a recent dinner night with a good friend we tried the new Sheri’s at Shears in downtown Canton. It was a quiet Wednesday night, unlike the crazy busy First Friday events which is when we usually head downtown. I found it to be a nice change of pace to easily park right outside the entrance, stroll in and immediately be seated. We were even greeted and sat by the one and only Sheri herself!
The atmosphere was comfortable and homey, while maintaining many of the features of the historic building. Our server was casual and friendly, reminiscent of a waitress you might expect to see in a café on the main street of a small town where everyone knows one another. The whole ambience was very laid back and welcoming. And even better, the prices were easy on my wallet!
The menu offered many standard favorites as well as some unique twists on classic home-style dishes. We started off with a hearty appetizer, the Bacon, Bleu & Beef Flat Bread. It was loaded with bleu cheese and piled high with tender slices of steak. ![IMG_0451[1]](http://www.visitcantonstark.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_04511-300x225.jpg)
After much deliberation I decided on the Parmesan Crusted Cod served with Garlic Fries for my main meal.

I’ll have to make a return trip to try out my second choice, the Chipotle Blueberry Pork Tenderloin. My friend ordered the Cajun Shrimp Alfredo.

Both meals were good, but I must admit the Garlic Fries stole the show for me. They were so delicious that I nearly polished them off before even tasting the cod.
Sheri is best known for her sweets, so although thoroughly stuffed we of course had to find room for dessert. We shared a chocolate iced brownie that lived up to Sheri’s reputation and waddled back to our car at the end of the evening.
