1. The Near East – Regional Premiere
The Players Guild Theatre will co-produce and present with Northern Michigan University the regional premiere THE NEAR EAST by Alex Lewin, winner of the Quest for Peace prize from the Kennedy Center,for one weekend only, March 30-April 1. Show times are Fri. and Sat. at 8 p.m.; Sun. at 2:30p.m. Post play discussions will follow each performance. This play is intended for a mature audience.
2. Doo-Wops and Beauty Shops – Lunch & Dinner Theater
Head to the Amish Door this weekend to enjoy their Doo-Wops and Beauty Shops lunch and dinner theater. Sally’s Sheerly Delicious Hair Salon is all a-bustle with the biggest baby shower in town. But when the party’s entertainment breaks down on Route 66, Sally will need the help of some trusty old friends and a visiting soap opera star to keep the party rockin’ and a rollin’. Tickets are $38 and include a bountiful meal. Shows are at 12:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. on Fri., and at 6:15 p.m. on Sat. Reservations are required.
3. Canton Symphony MasterWorks Concert
A romantics dream, this concert will feature two phenomenal soloists – former Concertmaster Nathan Olson is joined by award-winning cellist David Requiro and the orchestra for Brahms’ stunningly beautiful Concerto for violin and cello. The second half of the program will feature Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique – a revolutionary programmatic work inspired by Berlioz breakup with a famous Shakespearian actress. The Concert is at 8 p.m. on Sat., March 31 at Umstattd Hall.
A sure sign of Spring, the City of Canal Fulton Canalway Center will open for the season on Sunday, April 1. The center is open in April on the weekends (except Easter) from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. April is fishing month, stop in with the kids (ages 4-15) to enter to win a youth fishing pole and learn more about fishing along the Canalway.
This weekend is your last chance to see the Another Look at the New Look exhibit at the Massillon Museum. Included in the exhibit are selections from the Massillon Museum’s permanent collection and garments created specially for the exhibit by designers from TV’s Project RunwayTM. The exhibit is open through Sunday, April 1st, Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
