Beech Creek Gardens
Beech Creek Gardens has a seasonal Butterfly House (usually opening after July 4th), a Plant Science Center with hands-on environmental education stations, hiking trails and a visitor center including a Nature Store. In January and February, on the weekends, you can feed wild chickadees from your hand. Spend the day walking the trails, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy!
When you reach the Butterfly House & Gardens area, you will notice the enclosed structure that is the home of our native butterflies, skippers, moths and the many host plants that support them. Visitors to the butterfly house will stroll down the garden path and discover these wonderful creatures in all stags of their life cycles.
The walkways inside the Butterfly House and around the Sensory Garden have been constructed with brick pavers. They are solid enough to accommodate visitors that require assistance such as walkers or wheelchairs. Wooden benches inside the Butterfly House and concrete benches outside in the Sensory Garden can be used to take a short rest, or to just sit, relax, and enjoy. You will be able to learn about the host and nectar plants that the many species need to survive.
Surrounding the Butterfly House are the Sensory Gardens and the Logs O’ Fun Playground.
