Canton is home to diverse industries, including the internationally known Timken Company. In the heart of the downtown renaissance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places is the First Ladies National Historic Site. Nearby are the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum and the McKinley Monument, final resting place of the nation's 25th president.

Arts in Stark is the umbrella organization for the Canton Symphony, Canton Ballet, Voices of Canton Inc., Players Guild Theatre and Canton Art Museum. Next door, the Canton Memorial Civic Center is the setting for national music acts, trade shows, sports events and more. Summer festivals downtown feature one dedicated to fine wine and another to Blues music. A farmers' market flourishes every Saturday June through October. The Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival partners with Canton's Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum to honor National Football League greats. Eight of the 17 events are held in the greater downtown area.
