EWTN Global Catholic Network will host its 2010 Family Celebration Oct. 9-10 at the Canton Civic and Cultural Center in Canton, Ohio – Mother Angelica’s hometown.
Come enjoy a roster of well-loved speakers, including EWTN’s “World Over” Anchor (and Mother Angelica’s best-selling biographer) Raymond Arroyo; “Journey Home” Host Marcus Grodi; Dr. Ray Guarendi, host of EWTN Radio Network’s “The Doctor Is In,” and Mother Assumpta Long of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, whose order hosts the EWTN children’s catechetical series, “Truth in the Heart.” “Bookmark” Host Doug Keck will emcee the event.
As a special bonus, those attending on Saturday night will have the opportunity to participate in a special live show celebrating Mother Angelica’s life and legacy, which will feature all our speakers as well as select members of the audience!
EWTN President &CEO Michael P. Warsaw, Deacon Bill Steltemeier, Father Anthony and Father Joseph Mary Wolfe will also be on hand for the always popular “Family Talk.”
In addition, children will be entertained by “Roamin Catholic” Host Rob Wahl and his sidekick, Pete the Penguin, as well as Brother Leo of “Hey Brother Leo” fame. All will appear at the “EWTN Faith Factory” booth throughout the weekend.

European design the talents of Italian designer Giotto Bizzarrini will be recognized by displaying examples of some of his finest automobile designs. There will also be a special display of Duesenbergs — both open and closed body styles.
This year’s celebration will include many returning Hall of Famers, who will ride in the parade, along with the 2010 Class of Enshrinees including Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, John Randle, Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith. Parade viewers will be treated to the sights and sounds of 12 giant helium balloons, 21 marching and military bands, 11 floats and 23 specialty units, as well as antique vehicles, animal units and much, much more.
Music will definitely be the backdrop of the evening, highlighted by Aquarius Rising, the Summer of Love Pop Orchestra (Studio 5 @ 8 p.m.) and Positively Fourth Street – playing rock and roll hits from 6-8 at the Foundations Center.
The Best Sauce Award winner will be judged by seven professional area chefs. In addition, a “People’s Choice Award” will be given based on surveys taken by an anonymous, independent group who will survey the general public at the event to determine the Ribs Burnoff best ribs according to the populace. The winning vendor will receive a plaque and “bragging rights” for the remainder of the event.
Stark County, which has hosted all or portions of the finals for the past 20 years and has two years remaining on the current contract to host the finals, has been awarded the 2012 and 2013 championships, while Columbus will host the finals in 2014 and 2015. As part of the motion to approve the recommendation, the Board also gave itself the opportunity to discuss option years for hosting the finals in the future. Stark County will continue to utilize Canton Fawcett Stadium and Massillon Paul Brown Tiger Stadium as the site for the six championship games in a two-day format rotating between the two facilities and Columbus will host all six finals at Ohio Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University also in a two-day format.
