Freebie Friday: First Friday-The Color of Music! Tonight!

Denny Ott Playing at First FridayWhat shade is your September? What hue is your pre-holiday weekend? What tint is your tune?

Find out by attending the September 4 First Friday, themed “The Color of Music,” and featuring a spectrum of melodious entertainment, appealing to listeners, toe-tappers and aficionados alike.

Folk music duo Caboodle will get things started for the Sounds of Stark MusicFest on the Kresge Green Space at 5:30 p.m., where Zampino’s Drum Shop percussion students will be on the Kresge Green Space at 6:00, followed by piano man Danny Milan at 7:00. The Tim Griffiths Project takes the space at 7:30 p.m.; Mathias Collins at 8:20 p.m. and Doug Stuck at 9:00 p.m. (Sounds of Stark CDs will be available for purchase!) Around the corner at Motter & Meadows, an array of Canton Idols will kick off the evening at 6:00 p.m., followed by the harmonious fun of Saturday Nite Fish Fry at 8:00 p.m.

Early in the evening, Tofu Lite will play at Lynda Tuttle’s Art Center, Keith Chaney at Sarafina Décor, Jam City at 2nd April Galerie and Studios, and The Bluecasters Band at Sheri’s Sweets. Doug “Ivory” Domineck will again be at Napoli’s with outdoor artists Denny Ott, Shar Wilton, Lisa Spicer, Bryn Swallen, Matt Basso and Gary Gerber appearing (and playing) around the Canton Arts District all evening.

Also appearing will be Dan Rish at The Canton Club, Bent Steel at A Cobbler Shop, Zach at the Canton Palace Theatre, Jeff Poulos at Anderson Creative, Andy Cypert at Iris, The Big Sweet at the Imperial Room, John Morton Trio at Picciano Martini Bar and The Speedbumps at Fideli. Art will also be rocking the evening as the Waterless Aquarium Project debuts on the Kresge Green Space, as new work by Walsh University Artist-in-Residence PR Miller displays outside of the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, where “Ruins of Life,” an exhibit by Keith Barr opens inside. Art by Marcia Moses will appear at the Metropolitan Centre, first floor, while area establishments host artists and their work as well, Shawn D. Wood at Julz; Ted Savastano at Gasser’s; and Lisa Miller.

Dancing will occur with Swing Dance at the Metropolitan Ballroom and the Doina Romanian Dance Ensemble at Court and 4th.
